Hi-tech community

The first phase of 2,500 new homes on the award-winning development at Brooklands, has transformed the eastern side of Milton Keynes into a modern, environmentally sensitive and hi-tech community.

Elliott Stiling, Sales Director,  Places for People said: “With an increase in people now working from home and employers offering flexible working options, it is essential that we are able to offer residents not only a stunning landscaped environment but also the technology to make living at Brooklands as enjoyable, comfortable and easy as possible.”

Ultrafast fibre broadband

To create a technologically advanced community ‘Places for People’ chose GTC, an independent installer, owner and operator of utility networks, including fibre broadband all the way into the home. GTC’s fibre network provides the speeds required to support services for modern living including ultrafast broadband, calls, entertainment packages and online gaming.

“We wanted to future-proof the broadband network for residents moving into Brooklands and an all-fibre approach was the only logical way to do it. Apart from the efficiency advantages there are significant environmental benefits in keeping with the whole philosophy behind the development. Fibre uses about a third of the energy needed to run copper cabling. Brooklands has serious green credentials and we’re proud that this adds to them. An additional benefit is that Brooklands can officially be declared a satellite-dish-free zone.”
