Picturesque new community
Milltimber Manor is the current phase of the wider Oldfold Village development, a new semi-rural community on the outskirts of Aberdeen. When complete, Oldfold Village will consist of 500 luxury family homes carefully designed to echo local, traditional architecture through the use of complementary materials. Meandering streets and stonewall perimeters, together with community spaces and a new primary school, will complete the village feel of this new neighbourhood.
Developers in Scotland are well aware of the benefits of adopting a multi-utility approach, working with a single, independent network provider to install all the required utilities. For GTC, such an approach does not mean a one-size-fits-all mentality, with the company always ready to adapt to the specific requirements of each project. The standard procedure would be for all the groundworks, for gas, electricity, water and fibre, to be handled by GTC and all the utilities to be laid at the same time. Here the customer wished to undertake the fibre groundworks themselves, with GTC then laying the fibre in the trenches.
At Milltimber Manor, GTC is installing ultrafast Fibre-to-the Home (FTTH), delivering 1Gbps speeds, available to customers on the day they move into their new home. GTC’s fibre network is open access, offering homeowners a choice of ISPs so that they can choose the broadband package that best meets their needs in terms of speed, cost and services.
Milltimber Manor residents also benefit from GTC’s Fibre Integrated Reception System (FIRS), which uses a single dish and aerial array for satellite TV (including Sky Q), Freeview and DAB radio. The single satellite dish serves the whole development, with the signal delivered to each home via the fibre network. In addition, reflecting the high-end character of the housing at Milltimber, GTC has upgraded the RF splitters in each home to enable a television point to be placed in up to nine rooms.

They continue to deliver alternative solutions for us, one example being at Milltimber Manor, where they carried out electrical reinforcement works on North Deeside Road which, had the work been carried out by another provider, would have caused months of road works and disruption for those living locally.”
