Hunts Grove, Gloucestershire, Crest Nicholson

Delivery of the initial utility infrastructure connections was crucial to project success and this is exactly what GTC achieved for Crest Nicholson on this major site.  GTC focused on the challenges of delivering key utility connections whilst the house builder was able to focus on delivering homes.

Development: Hunts Grove, Gloucestershire

Customer: Crest Nicholson

Sector: Residential, social and commercial

Utilities: Electricity, Gas and SMART Meters

The area

A fascinating urban gateway leads to a strategic new development, Hunts Grove, in Gloucestershire, creating a vibrant new community of 1,750 new homes. At the heart of this large community of houses will be a thriving village centre offering all local amenities. The surrounding area will benefit from the development with improvements being made to parts of the M5.

Major development

This large community required the following infrastructure: gas – medium pressure governor and 13,000m onsite mains; and electricity – 21,000m onsite cables and 5 substations. In addition, SMART meters were supplied and fitted for every home.

Managing the project

With proven project management skills, GTC worked closely with Crest Nicholson meeting their deadlines to install the substantial offsite utilities infrastructure and energisation of the first substation, enabling the show houses to be opened for Christmas viewings and sales. GTC’s customer-focused approach will continue to maintain our relationship with Crest Nicholson throughout the 10-15-year build programme, connecting to the growing gas and electricity networks, continuing to deliver on time and within budget.

“This is an important development for Crest Nicholson and Gloucester, creating an exciting new village and community. We had to select a utilities infrastructure company who could offer a flexible approach, technical expertise and guaranteed on-site delivery. GTC has a proven successful track record with Crest Nicholson of delivery on previous projects and is able to provide all the listed elements we required.”
