WHY ENERGY THEFT MATTERS
Energy theft happens when gas or electricity is used without being properly recorded – often through meter tampering or unauthorised connections. It is illegal and can pose serious safety risks.
Interfering with energy supplies can lead to gas leaks, fires and electrical hazards, putting people and property at risk. Energy theft also has a wider impact. The cost of stolen energy is ultimately shared across customers, leading to higher household bills.
We support Crimestoppers’ Stay Energy Safe campaign, helping raise awareness of the risks, the warning signs and how to report concerns safely. If you suspect energy theft, you can report it anonymously – and help protect yourself and your community.
