The New Appointments and Variations (NAV) process allows independent water companies to own and operate water and wastewater networks in discrete geographic (development) areas.

This gives housebuilders and developers a choice of provider for the asset ownership and network installation of new water and wastewater networks, as an alternative to the incumbent supplier.
