From 2005 to late 2009, GTC was part of Babcock & Brown Infrastructure (BBI). In November 2009, GTC’s, and IEG’s, ownership changed to Prime Infrastructure Holdings, listed on the Australian stock exchange. Prime Infrastructure Holding’s core business strategy focuses on acquiring, managing and operating quality assets across two primary sectors: Energy Transmission and Distribution Infrastructure; and Transport Infrastructure.
Following our successful water market entry in 2008 based on our partial WIRS (Water Industry Registration Scheme) accreditation for construction, GTC has, in 2009, been awarded full WIRS. This is recognised by all water utilities and Water UK, complements the accreditations for gas and electricity GTC already held, and represents the same high standards for quality and safety.
With GIRS, NERS, and WIRS GTC can offer a full Multi Utility provision, and is listed as a Multi Utility provider on the Lloyd’s Register.
GTC reached another milestone of 500,000 homes and commercial premises connected to a GTC network or contracted to be connected.
We also obtained partial WIRS accreditation to enable us to launch the GTC Mutli Utility package.
In 2008, GTC obtained NERS accreditations in Project Management and Design. NERS is a Lloyds Registered scheme for designing and constructing electricity infrastructure ensuring high technical, quality and safety standards are met.
In March 2008, GTC acquired Power On Connections - the UK’s leading independent electricity connections provider. Power On Connections provides electricity infrastructure for new connections on complex high voltage projects that traditionally could only be undertaken by the host incumbent Distribution Network Operator (DNO). Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO) licence granted for electricity, expanding GTC’s energy network provision throughout Great Britain.
GTC responsible for a further 26,000 household connections via the acquisition of Utility Grid Installations Ltd.
Transco final connections agreement signed enabling live connections to Transco mains to be made by GTC in all but the highest-pressure categories and unusual material cases.
GTC acquired gas networks from Scottish Power and Mowlem Energy, adding over 56,000 household connections to GTC's portfolio.
The new GTC headquarters opened in Woolpit, Suffolk.
GTC is Lloyds Gas Industry Registration Scheme (GIRS) accredited for Design, Project Management and Audit. This ensures infrastructure is built to gas industry standards, to provide safe and secure gas supplies.
By 2002 GTC had successfully installed 2,500 networks, laid in excess of 700 kilometres of pipeline, connected 100,000 customers and transported over 2.4 billion kW/h of gas per annum.
GTC expanded to include the non-domestic development sector (industrial and commercial), successfully securing contracts to serve major developments around the UK.

GTC became the first IGT since deregulation to install a new natural gas distribution network to serve a complete village. The village, Papworth Everard near Cambridge, is home to the famous Papworth Hospital and Trust who welcomed the availability of this less expensive and more efficient fuel.
With deregulation of the natural gas transportation market, GTC successfully secured a license as a Public Gas Transporter (PGT).
GTC commenced operations in the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) sector, designing and installing metered LPG networks for developments in locations outside the natural gas supply area, throughout the UK.
